Welcome to the world, RJ.

January 16, 2020 it was a cloudy morning with gusty winds outside but the room we waited in was warm with anticipation. By 12:30 in the afternoon we were in the pre op room with your mom and dad as they prepared for your arrival. Your dad eagerly dressed in the scrubs outfitted for him as we joked about just how good he looked for you in the decorative collar on the white attire. You had quite a crowd waiting for you in that room. Everyone betting to see what color your hair was going to be and on who you would look most like.

1pm and we’re all in the small waiting room outside of labor and delivery. Everyone took turns anxiously pacing the halls just waiting to get a peek at you. The next hour seemed to last a lifetime.

It began to rain heavily and just as soon as we heard the rain the most beautiful sound you could hear in a hospital played softly through the speaker, it was the lullaby.

You were born.

Within a few moments your father was sending everyone photos of your first moments and as fast as that we were racing out to the elevator to meet you face to face.

Everyone followed you up to the 2nd floor and watched in awe as your heartbeat was checked, your measurements taken, and absorbing your finally exposed features. Especially the incredible mohawk you arrived with only to realize it had to have been from all the classic tunes your parents played to you in the womb.

While your mom was in recovery your dad had you all to himself even with a family audience outside of the room. It was just you and him. You did not cry you just observed everything. He spent the next half an hour memorizing you while finding familiar features you share. He swore your feet were duplicates of his and everyone immediately saw your ears were also.

Within an hour and a half you had had your first bath and you’re mom was in her room waiting for you. You were brought in and as soon as you laid on her chest it was undeniably magic. You curled up in such a way that it melted everyone in the room. Your bond was immediate. It was an unforgettable moment.

Welcome to the world, RJ.
